MTA Foundation to Award $50,000 in Scholarships

The MTA Foundation is excited to announce the launch of its scholarship program for 2016. The MTA Foundation Scholarships are designed to encourage individuals to pursue a variety of educational goals for not only first-time college students, but also returning students, students participating in a vocational program, or students pursuing professional development that leads to a degree or certification.

 

Academic Degree Scholarship (1 – $7,500)
This is a four-year scholarship awarded to only one student. Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school, correspondence study, or distance education program in MTA’s service area. Applicant must be pursuing a four-year Bachelor Degree at any university campus and have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.5.
Academic Degree Scholarship (6 – $5,000)
This scholarship will be awarded to five students. Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school, correspondence study, or distance education program in MTA’s serving area. Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 required. Applicant must be pursuing a four-year Bachelor Degree at an accredited school.
Continuing Education Scholarship (4 – $2,500)
This scholarship will be awarded to three students. Current year graduating high school students are not eligible. Applicant must be enrolled or accepted as a part-time (at least 6 credit hours per semester or 4 hours per quarter) or full-time student in an accredited school in a program leading toward a Bachelor or Master’s Degree. Applicant must have completed 12 or more credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Career & Technical Education Scholarship (1 – $2,500)
This scholarship is ideal for students considering a career in a health, industrial, or technical field such as dental hygiene, nursing, diesel/heavy equipment operation or auto mechanics. Applicant must be enrolled or accepted as a part-time (or at least 6 credit hours per semester of 4 hours per quarter) or full-time student at an accredited school in a program leading toward a recognized license, certificate, or n Associates Degree. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the most recent educational institution attended (high school or post-secondary).

 

DEADLINE
Application and supportive documentation must be submitted electronically to the email mtascholarship@mta-telco.com no later than midnight on, or before, April 10, 2016.
