The Alaska Oil and Gas Association (AOGA), the professional trade association for oil and gas producers, explorers, developers, refiners, and pipelines, is pleased to offer a private $2500 scholarship to any University of Alaska system school. Qualified candidates must be Alaskan students, and will be considered on the basis of responses to an essay question focused on oil and gas, and its history in and relationship with the state of Alaska.
High school juniors and seniors in the 2015-2016 school year are encouraged to submit a 500-1000 word essay based on the topic outlined in the attachment. Selection of the scholarship winner will be made by an independent committee comprised of professionals representing the University of Alaska, school district counselors, vocational education, and the oil and gas industry.
Attached is the flyer with more details about the scholarship.
All applications must be emailed or postmarked by April 25, 2016. The scholarship winner will be announced May 2, 2016, and will be invited to attend AOGA’s 50th Anniversary Celebration & Conference on May 25, 2016 in Anchorage.
